Do We Treat the Homeless Like Dogs?

Yesterday morning I pulled up to IHOP-Macon at 6AM and discovered a man sleeping in our overhang. I had a banana in my hand which I then resolved to give him. I truly wanted to be Christ to this man. I gave him the banana and prayed for him. As I spoke with him it became obvious that he was mentally disabled. I told him that our doors opened at 9PM as I walked into IHOP and got things ready for the day. The Lord began to speak to me about this man. He told me to make him some coffee and a sandwich. As I pondered this the thought that came to me was: “If I’m too nice and give him to much, he’ll hang around here for good.” And there it was, I was thinking about him, the same way I think about dogs! I immediately realized just how evil I was and I gave him the sandwich and coffee. Guess what, he stuck around all day and he may be there now. The bottom line is the gospel gets messy, but we are called to love no matter the cost. Love got difficult for God as He “was pleased to crush His Son.” God so desired worship and closeness from mankind that He gave of Himself! How much more should we give of our self that the knowledge of God would be manifest in the earth. Church needs to get messier, more difficult, and it will as we become more like Christ. Do things because God would, not because they are easy or difficult.

Freedom From Pornography

I recently read an article from a blog site entitled The Daily Atheist. In the article that I have linked, they give statistics which seem to line up with Christians own estimations as well. The obvious point here is, “How can they claim a real living God and be like everyone else?” Harsh? Maybe. However, this point is completely valid. If the Holy Spirit is who the Word says He is then this shouldn’t be so. I myself struggled with pornography for over a decade! I’m ashamed to even admit this, but I can truthfully say, I have victory by the grace of God. Many of you reading this blog have similar struggles and are desperate to break free. I believe the main way to find victory is to find satisfaction in God. If you simply try to delete this struggle from you life, and fill it with nothing, success is not likely. Encountering God through His word and prayer is the way. If you draw near, He will draw near to you. This is every hearts true desire. Nearness to their maker. Pornography robs us of this pleasure. I prayed a simple prayer and it has made all the difference in the world for me. “God, start a fire in me, or leave me alone!” God initiated this desire in me. Either I would have true life in God or I would be cast off. The beautiful thing about God is, He won’t leave you alone. He will start a fire in you. This is where victory starts. It is with vibrant life in Christ. Secondly, we need to confess our sins and bring accountability into our life. We must expose even our darkest places to God’s transforming light. The truth in the church is scary right now. God’s people are weak and broken because of this sin. If you desire freedom, I am here to tell you that it is absolutely possible, and probable through the power of Holy Spirit in the believer. I hope this helps. IHOP-Macon Testimoney

As many of you may know, IHOP-Macon is experiencing a season of repentance and refreshing in the Lord. It started a couple of weeks ago when the Lord lead us to lay a foundation of repentance and confession of sins. During this time He really caused us to tear our hearts and let ourselves be broken for the things that break His heart. Until Monday of this week we’ve been in that season. Starting Monday, He really begin His process of refreshing. One of the most dynamic times came Tuesday, when the Lord lead us to wash each others feet. As we washed each others feet and prayed for one another with tears, we realized God was making it clear, “Love! Love! Love!” God has reminded us that His gospel is not complicated. Love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, strength, and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself. That’s what we are returning to by the grace of God. Thank you all for your prayers for this ministry. We are believing that this is just the beginning of what He wants to do in this place and in this city. Please join us in your prayers. The prayers of the saints will avail much! May you have peace and blessings in Christ!

God Is Moving!

Yesterday started like most any other day. Wake up, breakfast, shower, get dressed, go to staff meeting, and then it got interesting. During staff meeting we were sharing things that we felt were holding us back individually and corporately. This turned into something much more. As we began “confessing our sins one to another,” (James 5:16) The Lord began to move in the room. We quickly realized that this was going to be a different day. We moved from confession into a time of crying out to the Lord to heal us and visit His people. This went from 10:30 AM till 10:00 PM! God is in the process of restoring and refreshing His people right now. We are so excited to see what the Lord is going to do. We have great expectations! Please join us in prayer for the Lord to give us more of His Spirit and to continue the work of repentance resulting in fruit of the Spirit.

Aradhna – Something Different, Something Good

Aradhna is bringing the Message of Christ to India in an awesome way. I don’t know all the details of this band but I do know that most of them are from the United States, yet they are bringing the gospel to India through Indian inspired music and in their language. This reminds me of when Paul said that he would be all things to all people just to win one for the sake of the gospel. I usually have no idea what they are singing about, except that it is for the sake and glory of Christ. For me, that’s enough. Their music is incredible and their heart for Christ and the people of India is evident. Get their latest album, I promise you won’t regret it.

Choosing Christ Above All Others

Sounds simple right. Have no other loves before me. “Hear O Israel, the Lord is one, and you shall Love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, and strength.” We often wonder what is wrong with Israel and why all the idols. I mean, really. Not so quick church in America, our idols just look different. We bow to the idol of pornography, money, television shows, and anything else that we lean on and trust in more than the Lord. The truth is we don’t really know what most of our idols are until our trust in the Lord is tested. When tragedy hits, and it always seems to, what do we run to. Do we run immediately to friends for advice. If it’s a money issue, do we immediately begin to plan and scheme as how to fix our current situation? These opportunities our are time to choose Christ and say, “I choose you above all other loves!” In Jeremiah the Lord says,”My people have committed two evils against me, they have forsaken me, the wellspring of living water and hewn for themselves cisterns that hold no water.” The broken cisterns that we choose instead of the Lord will not every truly satisfy us. Christ yoke is easy and His burden is light. I choose Him today. Money does not make for a good master. Have a good weekend.

Switch Flop Baby

The statistics are staggering.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING
The United Nations estimates that 700,000 to 4 million women and children are trafficked around the world for purposes of forced prostitution, labor and other forms of exploitation every year. Trafficking is estimated to be a $7 billion dollar annual business.
ATLANTA
As a major city that houses a super-busy airport and hosts a lot of major sports events, Atlanta is possibly one of the biggest hubs for underage sex trafficking in the U.S. The girls in Teen Identity’s video point out that 500 girls are trafficked for sex each month, servicing 7200 men.

In his day Jeremiah cried that the Lord would make his head like waters and his eyes like fountains. Beloved, we need this today. We need to weep that we cannot weep. God give us tears that brings us to our knees. If you are a Christian, then you must wake up to reality. The dark is growing darker and we need you in the battle. God has given us authority and a place seated with Him (Ephesians 2:6) that we would agree and intercede for justice to go forth in the earth. I invite you to allow yourself to be burdened by what burdens the Lord’s heart and to respond however He leads.

Sean McConnell

If you haven’t heard Sean McConnell then you are missing out my friends. I first heard of him when I played guitar for his sister in a student ministry praise team. His voice is amazing and his song writing is even better. The honesty that comes from him is refreshing and christian music needs him. Maybe it’s just me, but I think he sounds like a male Patty Griffin. If you don’t know who that is, then you need to go and listen immediately! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this video of Sean, and I pray that more of his songs get out there to ears that need to hear.

He Is Worth Our Lives

The son of God was equipped like no other man in history to deal with the trials of this world. He was sent from Heaven to rescue man kind. From the very beginning He dwelt with God the Father and His Holy Spirit in one accord. Even through trials, death on a cross, and the wrath of God, He remained faithful. He had right perspective and His hope was placed on “the joy set before Him” (Hebrews 12:2), namely us! Death was not just pain and sorrow, It was a gateway that brought us to God through His blood. This is the key to our victory; right perspective. Hebrews 12:1-3 says, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Wow, Jesus was motivated by us as His reward! So today, consider Him, and run with endurance. Our lives answer a very important question. Is it worth it? Our lives will either answer a resounding yes or no. We were worth it to Him, and that alone makes Him worth it to me.
